NURTURING MINDS, EMPOWERING WELLBEING
You Are Not Weak. You Are Overwhelmed.

Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people seek therapy, and yet it is also one of the most isolating experiences a person can have. When anxiety takes hold, it can feel as though everyone else is managing fine and you alone are struggling. That is almost never the case.
Stress and anxiety exist on a spectrum. A certain amount of stress is a normal part of life: it can even be useful, sharpening focus and motivating action in the short term. But when stress becomes chronic, or when anxiety starts to shape the choices you make and the life you live, it is no longer something to push through. It is something worth addressing.
At Wellness Psychology, I work with clients experiencing a wide range of anxiety-related difficulties, from generalised anxiety and persistent worry to stress that has built up gradually over months or years. There is no threshold you need to meet to reach out. If anxiety or stress is getting in the way of your daily life, you are welcome to get in touch.
Recognising the Signs
Anxiety does not always look the way people expect it to. It can show up as a constant background hum of worry, as physical symptoms you have been pushing through, or as a gradual narrowing of the things you feel able to do. Some common signs include:
Persistent or intrusive worry
Tension, headaches and fatigue
Difficulty relaxing or switching off
Disrupted sleep
Feeling constantly on edge
Panic attacks or a fear of losing control
Avoiding situations that feel unpredictable
Burnout from sustained pressure at work or home
If any of these feel familiar, you are not alone, and support is available.
How We Can Work Together
There is no single approach to anxiety that works for every person. My training is integrative, which means I draw on a range of evidence-informed methods and adapt how I work to suit what you need. That might mean exploring the root causes of your anxiety, understanding the patterns that keep it going, developing practical strategies for difficult moments, or working through past experiences that continue to affect how you feel today. We move at your pace throughout.
Step 1
Book your free consultation:
Reach out via the contact page with a brief message about what you are looking for.
Jo will arrange a free 15-minute consulation call at a time that suits you. It is a relaxed, no-obligation conversation, and the best way to find out whether working together feels right.
Step 2
Your first session
If you decide to go ahead, your first session is focused on understanding your experience and beginning to build a picture of what the work might look like. Nothing is rushed, and you are in control of the pace throughout.
Step 3
Begin your therapy
Sessions build on each other over time. Jo will work with you to understand what is driving your depression and find the approaches that genuinely help. You will always be involved in decisions about your care.
Other Areas I Can Help With
Anxiety often connects with other areas of life. If something else is part of the picture, support is available for that too.
Flexible online therapy sessions for clients across the UK, with the same quality of care from wherever you are.
If you are living with depression or persistent low mood, online therapy offers a confidential and consistent space to begin working through it, in your own time and at your own pace.
Working through relationship difficulties as an individual is just as effective online as in person. If you are finding it hard to talk about what is happening in your relationships, a private online session can feel like a more accessible place to start.
The Flash Technique is well suited to online delivery. If you are looking for specialist trauma therapy and cannot access it locally, online sessions make it possible to work with a trained specialist regardless of where you are based.
Grief is deeply personal. Online bereavement counselling gives you access to sensitive, unhurried support from wherever you feel most comfortable, without the pressure of having to be anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions About Anxiety Therapy
What is the difference between everyday stress and anxiety that needs support?
Everyday stress is a normal response to pressure and usually eases once the situation changes. Anxiety becomes something worth addressing when it is persistent, disproportionate to what is happening, or when it starts to affect your choices, relationships, sleep or daily functioning. If anxiety or stress has been a regular feature of your life for some time, speaking to a therapist is a reasonable and worthwhile step.
Can therapy actually help with anxiety?
Yes. Talking therapies have a strong evidence base for anxiety-related difficulties. Many clients notice a meaningful shift in how they feel and function over the course of therapy, though the pace and nature of progress varies from person to person. The free initial consultation is a good opportunity to discuss what you are hoping to gain from sessions and whether therapy feels like the right step for you.
How many sessions will I need?
This is different for every client. Some people notice real progress within a focused short course of sessions; others benefit from longer-term support, particularly where anxiety has been present for a long time or is connected to other areas of difficulty. Jo will discuss this with you as your therapy develops, and you will always be involved in any decisions about your care.
What if I feel anxious about starting therapy?
Many clients feel nervous before their first session, and some feel anxious about the idea of therapy itself. That is completely understandable and something Jo encounters regularly. The free 15-minute consultation call is designed to be as low-pressure as possible, and you are under no obligation to proceed after it. There is no expectation to have the right words, or to know exactly what you want to say. You can simply begin wherever feels manageable.
Is anxiety therapy available online?
Yes. Jo offers online therapy sessions via secure video call for clients in the UK. Online sessions offer the same standard of care as in-person appointments and can be particularly helpful for clients whose anxiety makes travelling or attending appointments in person feel more difficult.
Do I need a GP referral to book?
No. You can contact Wellness Psychology directly, without a referral from your GP or any other professional. Simply get in touch via the contact page to arrange your free initial consultation call.
Ready to Take the First Step?
Anxiety can make even straightforward things feel harder than they should be, including reaching out for support. If you are ready to get in touch, or simply want to find out more before making any decisions, the contact page is the best place to start. Your free 15-minute consultation call carries no obligation and no pressure.
Please note: Wellness Psychology operates a strict clinical screening process. All new clients must complete a brief initial telephone consultation prior to booking. We do not offer emergency or immediate crisis intervention.
If you are in crisis or need urgent support, please do not wait for a reply here. In a medical emergency or if you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent help that isn't a 999 emergency, you can call 101. You can also speak to the Samaritans, free, 24 hours a day, on 116 123.
