Therapy That Comes to You

Online therapy gives you access to professional, evidence-informed counselling and psychotherapy from wherever you are, without the need to travel or take time out of your working day. Sessions take place via secure video call and offer exactly the same level of care, privacy and clinical rigour as in-person appointments.
I offer a blended approach to therapy which can comprise both online and face to face appointments. Whether you are based in Wolverhampton and simply prefer the convenience of an online appointment, or you are looking for a specialist therapist from further afield, you are welcome to get in touch.
Before any commitment is made, every new client is offered a free 15-20 minute consultation call. It is a relaxed, no-obligation conversation, and the best way to find out whether working together feels right.
What to Expect From an Online Session
Online sessions are straightforward to set up and easy to join. Once you have had your free initial consultation and we have agreed to work together, I will send you everything you need ahead of your first session.
Sessions take place via a secure, encrypted video call platform. You do not need to download any special software, and the process is kept as simple as possible, including for clients who are less confident with technology.
To get the most out of your sessions, it helps to find a private, comfortable space where you will not be interrupted for the duration of the appointment. A stable internet connection and a pair of headphones can also make a real difference to the quality of the call. If you have any questions about the practical side of things before your first session, just ask.
Sessions run for the same length of time as in-person appointments, and the way we work together is no different. The therapeutic process, the depth of the work, and the care you receive are identical whether we meet in person or online.
Areas I Can Help With Online
Online therapy is well suited to a wide range of difficulties. Below are the main areas I work with. Each one has its own dedicated page where you can find out more about what that support looks like in practice.
The Flash Technique is well suited to online delivery. If you are looking for specialist trauma therapy and cannot access it locally, online sessions make it possible to work with a trained specialist regardless of where you are based.
Grief is deeply personal. Online bereavement counselling gives you access to sensitive, unhurried support from wherever you feel most comfortable, without the pressure of having to be anywhere.
Working through relationship difficulties as an individual is just as effective online as in person. If you are finding it hard to talk about what is happening in your relationships, a private online session can feel like a more accessible place to start.
If you are living with depression or persistent low mood, online therapy offers a confidential and consistent space to begin working through it, in your own time and at your own pace.
Anxiety and chronic stress can make it difficult to leave the house, travel, or sit in a waiting room. Online therapy removes those barriers entirely, so that getting support does not have to feel like another source of pressure.
Why Clients Choose Online Sessions
For many people, online therapy is not a compromise. It is a preference. There are a number of reasons why clients find online sessions better suited to their lives.
01.
Online sessions remove the need to travel, which can make a significant difference for clients managing a busy schedule, a demanding job, young children, or a health condition that makes getting out of the house difficult. Sessions can take place from your home, your car, or anywhere else that feels private and comfortable.
02.
For clients who live outside the Wolverhampton area, online therapy makes it possible to work with a specialist they might not otherwise have access to locally. This is particularly relevant for clients seeking Flash Technique trauma therapy, where the pool of trained practitioners is still relatively small.
03.
Some clients also find that opening up feels slightly easier when they are in their own environment. There is no waiting room, no unfamiliar building, and no commute home afterwards to manage. You can take a moment, make a cup of tea, and settle into your session in a space that already feels safe.
If you would prefer to meet in person, face-to-face sessions are available at Jo's private therapy room in Penn, Wolverhampton.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
Yes. A significant body of research supports online therapy as equally effective as face-to-face sessions for a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma and grief. The therapeutic relationship, which is central to the progress clients make, can be built just as strongly through video as it can in person.
What do I need for an online session?
You need a device with a camera and microphone (a smartphone, tablet or laptop all work well), a reliable internet connection, and a private space where you will not be interrupted. Headphones are recommended but not essential. Jo will send you a link to join the session ahead of your appointment.
Is online therapy confidential and secure?
Yes. Sessions take place via an encrypted, secure video platform. Everything discussed remains fully confidential and is subject to the same professional and ethical standards as in-person sessions, in line with the BACP ethical framework.
Do I need to be based in Wolverhampton to have online sessions?
No. Online sessions are available to clients anywhere in the UK. You do not need to be local to Wolverhampton to work with Jo online.
Can I switch between online and in-person sessions?
Yes. If your circumstances change or you would simply prefer to alternate between online and in-person appointments, that flexibility is available. Just let Jo know what works best for you and sessions can be arranged accordingly.
How do I book my free 15-minute consultation?
Simply get in touch via the contact page and Jo will be in touch to arrange a time for your free consultation call. There is no obligation and no commitment required.
Ready to Get Started?
You don't have to have everything figured out before you get in touch. There is nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
Please note: Wellness Psychology operates a strict clinical screening process. All new clients must complete a brief initial telephone consultation prior to booking. We do not offer emergency or immediate crisis intervention.
If you are in crisis or need urgent support, please do not wait for a reply here. In a medical emergency or if you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent help that isn't a 999 emergency, you can call 101. You can also speak to the Samaritans, free, 24 hours a day, on 116 123.
